Career centre - visa requirements & NI numbers
Visa requirements
Should you not possess either a British/EU country passport or Dual citizenship, and you plan to work during your stay in the UK, you will need to obtain a work visa or permit prior to your arrival in the country. The type of visa or work permit you require will depend upon your individual circumstances.
Crone Corkill does not provide a work permit advisory service and it is strongly recommended that you seek advice from the UK embassy in your home country.
National insurance (NI) numbers
Your NI number is used by the Inland Revenue for identification purposes and does not dictate the rate of NI deductions from your salary.
If you do not have an NI number, you must apply for one as soon as you start work. You will need to contact your local Jobcentre Plus office (a division of the Department of Work and Pensions) to apply for an NI number. They will arrange a date and time for you to attend a brief interview.
For more information regarding National Insurance and NI numbers, consult your local Jobcentre Plus office or visit www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk.
