Overview

Social media provide all manner of potential benefits in terms of connecting with colleagues, contacts and friends, developing new business and self promotion. Nonetheless, the ever-evolving landscape of e-communication presents challenges as well as opportunities for employers.

As the use of social media in the workplace becomes ever more prevalent, and employment tribunals are increasingly called upon to deal with the problems that can arise as a result of their abuse, employers need to consider carefully how they address social media in the workplace.

In this seminar, speakers from Dechert's employment team will explore some of the legal and other issues that arise in relation to:

• The use of social media as a recruitment and business development tool
• The protection of confidential information in the context of social media
• Data protection and privacy of employees
• Recent tribunal case law
• Drafting an effective social media policy and training staff in the effective use of social media
